Help ESS Celebrate National Volunteer Week – April 24-30
From April 24-30 we will be celebrating the contributions of our volunteers: their actions and their genuine desire to support the members of our community. We invite you to help us shower our amazing volunteer team with words of appreciation. “ESS is fortunate to have a team of passionate and eager volunteers who love helping the community. The pandemic changed the volunteering landscape at ESS. Our volunteers have shown us that, despite the inconveniences of the pandemic, there are always other ways to find the love in helping the community, if we just change the business model – and we did just that! Our volunteers came through, as they always do, to support our team efforts to remain connected with our clients during these unprecedented times.
As our programs and services evolved in response to the changing environment and needs of the community, so did our volunteer activities.
Through the new Wellness-Call Project and our Friendly Visiting program, volunteers stayed in touch and supported hundreds of clients, using many virtual channels, such as telephone calls, emails and video conferencing. The increased use of new technology, shifted the attention from the hinders of the pandemic to a love of learning new things and sharing with one another, a rewarding experience for both clients and volunteers alike.
As we moved on with new projects, volunteers did their part in lending a hand with the delivery of Virtual Day Programs, Mobile Foodbank and Grocery Delivery programs, maintaining their traditional title as “integral part of the ESS team”. Success and innovation has felt extremely satisfying, these past two years, and the role of the volunteers just plain priceless! We remain humbled by their loyalty and support.
