Happy Personal Support Worker Day to all the incredible personal support workers! 💙 We appreciate your dedication and hard work. Today marks Personal Support Worker Day across Ontario. It is a day to pay tribute to thousands of workers in hospitals, long-term care homes, community-based health providers, or their clients’ homes. Â
PSWs are the backbone of the health system. Approximately 35% of all PSWs in Ontario work in the home and community sector, delivering a range of vital services that reduce the need for more expensive hospital care, emergency room visits, or long-term care. Further, they benefit individual clients, their caregivers, and the healthcare system as a whole.Â
Thus, they deliver essential support that contributes to bettering the quality of life for Ontarians. The PSW profession is critical in helping to reduce hallway health care so that patients can be discharged safely from hospitals and return to their homes and communities where they want to live. – Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA)
