Seniors Month 2024

🎉 Celebrating the incredible seniors who make our community shine! Happy Seniors Month!

WHY Celebrate?

Seniors continue to serve as leaders, mentors, volunteers, and active members of every community, and their past and present contributions call for appreciation and recognition.

The Province of Ontario formally acknowledges and celebrates the work elders have done and are doing in our communities by designating June as Elders Month. During Seniors Month, the health and well-being of our senior citizens will be given more importance, which will also act as a stimulus to keep our elderly citizens involved in their communities and socially connected. Additionally, it will support age-friendly communities and inclusivity.

The health and well-being of seniors are in everyone’s best interest. Did you know? Seniors are the fastest-growing population segment across Canada. From 2016 to 2021, the number of persons aged 65 and older rose 18.3% to 7.0 million. This is the second largest increase in 75 years, after the increase observed from 2011 to 2016 (150.statcan.gc.ca).

Thanks to our seniors, Ontario is the excellent place it is today, and we encourage all Ontarians to join us in celebrating this Month throughout June.
