Happy National Volunteer Week!
This week we, along with all non-profits across the country, are celebrating the individual and collective impact of our volunteers. The theme for the week is “Volunteering Weaves Us Together”. Their support, dedication and energy strengthen our approach to caring for members in our community. Together, with volunteers, we are stronger, making a greater impact. Just like an individual thread makes weaving stronger, every volunteer’s experience, perspective and abilities add to our collective resilience.
During the pandemic, our volunteers pivoted with us to respond to the isolation felt by many seniors. Over the last year, they have made over 7000 wellness checks and social calls. With concerns with safe and affordable food access, our volunteers have been irreplaceable packing weekly food hampers and supporting our Grocery Delivery program. Slowly they, too, are returning to in-person volunteering in particular in our Adult Day Services and Seniors Lunch Program. At the governance level, our Board of Directors volunteer countless hours per month to ensure that safety, compassion and continued viability are at the forefront at ESS. Please join us in thanking and recognizing our terrific volunteers.
