Connect with nature this New Year

***This program is now full*** To be added to a waitlist for future program updates, please contact amorellato@esssupportservices.ca.

Explore simple ways to enjoy nature from home and nurture your well-being.

Learn the health benefits of going outside (even when it’s cold). Try your hand at forest bathing, mindful birdwatching, nature journaling and more!

This will be an interactive program where you can share your experiences with the group. No experience is required and people of all physical abilities are welcome to take part.  You won’t need to visit any particular outdoor setting or purchase any supplies, but you’ll reap all the benefits.

This is a free 6-week virtual program that is open to older adults ages 55+.  Participate via zoom or the telephone. The program will take place on Thursdays from January 12 to February 16 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

Each week we’ll cover new nature practices:

  • January 12: Wonder Walks
  • January 19: Nature Journaling
  • January 26: Helpful Houseplants
  • February 2: Mindful Birdwatching
  • February 9: Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku)
  • February 16: Virtual Campfire and Storytelling Circle

This program will be facilitated by Emma Rooney, Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Horticultural Therapy Practitioner.  Emma was recently featured in the Globe and Mail: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/article-why-you-should-try-forest-bathing-even-in-the-winter/
