Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025
As we approach International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, celebrated globally on March 8th, it’s time to reflect on our progress in gender equality and the work that still lies ahead. This year’s themes are particularly poignant, calling for accelerated action and emphasizing the strength and resilience of women worldwide.
The Power of Three: This Year’s Inspiring Themes
-
“Accelerate Action” (Global IWD Theme)
This theme is a rallying cry for urgent and decisive steps towards gender equality. It acknowledges that while progress has been made, change needs to quicken. We’re called to actively dismantle systemic barriers and biases that continue to hold women back in various spheres of life. -
“For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment” (UN Theme)
Marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, this theme underscores the importance of inclusivity. It reminds us that actual progress leaves no one behind, emphasizing the need to empower all women and girls, especially those facing multiple forms of discrimination. -
“Strength in every story” (Canadian Government Theme)
This theme celebrates the diverse narratives of women’s experiences. It encourages us to amplify unheard voices and recognize the strength inherent in every woman’s journey.
Why These Themes Matter
In a world where women still earn 23% less than men globally and occupy only 24% of parliamentary seats, these themes are not just slogans—they’re urgent calls to action. They remind us that gender equality is not just a women’s issue but a fundamental human rights concern that affects everyone.
How You Can Participate
-
Share Stories: Use social media to highlight women who inspire you using #IWD2025 and #AccelerateAction.
-
Attend Events: Look for local IWD events such as film screenings, networking brunches, or conferences.
-
Educate Yourself: Learn about women’s rights issues and the challenges still faced by women globally.
-
Support Women-Led Initiatives: Consider donating to or volunteering with organizations that empower women and girls.
One of our four key priorities is:
- Enhancing Client and Family-Centered Care
- Implement an equity, diversity, and inclusion framework to promote diversity by promoting gender equality and educating people on the power of women. We all can accelerate our path in every aspect of life, and one way is to implement equity, diversity, and inclusion in our workplace.
Looking Forward
As we celebrate women’s achievements this International Women’s Day, let’s commit to actively participating in creating a more equitable world. Whether in our workplaces, communities, or homes, each of us has the power to accelerate action towards gender equality.
Remember, women’s strength lies in their individual stories, collective voices, and actions. Let’s amplify that voice in this IWD and turn it into tangible change. Happy International Women’s Day 2025! Let’s make it a year of unprecedented progress and empowerment for all women and girls.
