We are incredibly grateful to the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation for their generous grant of $7,500, which allows us to launch a brand-new initiative designed to bring meaningful social engagement and respite to caregivers in our community. 
This project is designed to improve caregivers’ overall well-being by supporting their emotional, social, and practical needs. It will offer them a supportive community, meaningful opportunities for personal enrichment, and, most importantly, the time and space to prioritize their health and happiness. Caregivers can step away from their day-to-day responsibilities through coordinated group outings to local museums, theaters, parks, and restaurants, and connect with others who understand their journey. And enjoy enriching experiences in a relaxed, stress-free environment. Every detail, from transportation to tickets, will be taken care of so caregivers can focus on themselves.
Grant Use
This program offers caregivers a vital chance to relax, recharge, and care for their own well-being by stepping away from their daily responsibilities. These moments of respite are essential for reducing stress, preventing burnout, and strengthening emotional resilience, allowing caregivers to return to their roles with renewed energy and focus.
Beyond rest, the program also fosters community and connection. Caregivers will enjoy outings alongside peers who understand their unique challenges, creating a strong sense of belonging. These shared experiences help reduce isolation and loneliness while building supportive, meaningful relationships.
In addition to the social benefits, the program offers opportunities for personal enrichment and growth. Through engaging activities, cultural experiences, and peer-to-peer conversations, caregivers can explore new interests, gain insights, and develop tools that enhance their well-being and caregiving journey.
By covering all expenses—including transportation, meals, and event tickets—and handling all logistics, we remove the financial and practical barriers that often prevent caregivers from accessing this support.
