PSW Day is held every year on May 19th.
“Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are the backbone of the health system and approximately 35% of all PSWs in Ontario work in the home and community sector, delivering a range of vital services that reduce the need for more expensive hospital care, emergency room visits, or long-term care. They benefit individual clients, their caregivers, and the health care system as a whole.
They deliver essential supports that contribute to bettering the quality of life for Ontarians. The PSW profession is critical in helping to reduce hallway health care so that patients are able to be discharged safely from hospitals and return to their homes and communities where they want to live.” – Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA)
Our PSWs inspire us daily. Today we celebrate them and all of their contributions.
They support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our clients, and help maintain their independence.
