The Honour Roll Award celebrates individuals and groups who have shown great dedication and commitment in making our mission at ESS a reality in the community.

We were pleased to present this year’s ESS Honour Roll Award to the members of the Pints of View men’s group from St. George’s On the Hill Anglican Church.  They began volunteering with ESS in April 2022, dedicating their time to supporting our Mobile Food Bank program. With their committed help, we were able to efficiently prepare and pack over 50 food hampers each week for delivery.  These food hampers, in many cases, were a lifeline for older members in our community who faced barriers to accessing other food banks and were experiencing the reality of food insecurity.

Their impact didn’t stop there.

Not only did they lend a hand in sorting and packaging the food items for delivery, but they also took it upon themselves to raise funds on our behalf.  Their fundraising efforts allowed us to purchase additional tables and shelving for our food pantry. These additions allowed us to properly organize the non-perishable food items and made it more comfortable for our volunteers to sort and pack the hampers in a standing position.  Additionally, the funds raised contributed to supporting the overall operations of our program.

We had the pleasure of welcoming three members of the Pints of View men’s group at our Annual General Meeting on June 27th to accept the award on the group’s behalf: Keith Grattan, Don Weston and Max Marechaux.  Max, in particular, led the charge and initiated the partnership between ESS and the Pints of View.  It is with the gratitude that we presented them with this well-deserved award.  The dedication and unwavering support of your members embodies the true spirit of community service.
