In partnership with Humber College, ESS Support Services is pleased to introduce the Special Senior Caregiver Program funded by the Allan Slaight Seniors Fund.
The Allan Slaight Seniors Fund is launched as a partnership between The Slaight Family Foundation and United Way of Greater Toronto. The Fund aims to support our most vulnerable seniors to live healthy, active and connected lives in their homes and communities. This fund will provide grants to evidence-informed, community-based programs or collaborations that use leading-edge practices or innovative methods that transform the way services are delivered for vulnerable seniors.
The Special Senior Caregiver Program aims to establish natural and professional supports for older adults caring for persons with developmental disabilities. The program will host monthly caregiver support groups where caregivers are given a safe space to share their personal experiences, listen to fellow caregivers, and learn useful tips and resources towards caregiving. The program will also provide case management services for caregivers who may require individualized, client-centered care to help and gain access to local community resources and services.
How to apply:
If you or someone you know is over the age of 55 and is caring for a loved one with a developmental disability who would benefit from this program, please contact the Special Senior Caregiver Program Manager, Jamie Lai, at (416) 243 – 0127 ext. 262 or jlai@esssupportservices.ca.
