Every hour in Ontario more than 15 seniors visit the emergency department because of a fall.
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, falls account for more than half of all injuries among Canadians aged 65 years and over.
ESS recognizes the importance of reducing the risk for falls among the individuals who attend our programs and use our services.  All new clients are assessed for their personal risk of falls and new assessments are made, as needed, when there is a change in their health status.
We provide client centered care with referrals to Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists for one-on-one counselling, free falls prevention exercise classes lead by Kinesiologists from St. Elizabeth’s and/or community group exercise classes to help improve balance, strength and flexibility.
