ADULT DAY SERVICES
(four locations)
Provides supported activities to seniors and adults who are diagnosed with dementia, acquired brain injury, chronic illness and those who are physically frail. The Adult Day Service is designed to support these individuals' functioning abilities through adaptive physical exercise, therapeutic social programs, and activities of daily living. Participation alleviates isolation by the opportunity to interact socially with others while providing caregivers with relief from the caregiving role. Lunch and snacks are provided. Transportation can be arranged. Programs provide extended hours Monday to Saturday.
BATHING PROGRAM
This is a comfortable alternative for you if you are finding it difficult to bathe in your own home. Staff support is available.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUPS
Caring for a person with a memory-related disorder can be Challenging. Our groups provide opportunities to share experiences and learn useful tips about caregiving. Groups are open to family and friends.
CARING CENTRE
Caregivers can take a much-needed break with the knowledge that trained staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Designed with all the conveniences of home including a furnished living room, dining room, and kitchen
CLIENT INTERVENTION AND ASSISTANCE
Provides support and crisis intervention for seniors who are vulnerable and at risk, including persons with dementia and/or their caregivers. Individuals can receive linkage to community support, supportive counseling, and advocacy concerning critical and/or impending changes in life situations, abuse, or isolation.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM
Interactive educational sessions are provided for individuals and groups on a range of health and wellness topics. Programs include the Aging Process, Skin Care, Gentle Care, Back Care, Falls Prevention, Continence Management, and Caring for a Stroke Survivor.
TRANSPORTATION
Volunteers and paid drivers provide fully escorted trips to medical appointments, including doctor, dentist, physiotherapy, chiropractor and non-emergency hospital trips. Group transportation to grocery stores and Community programs is also provided. Other social-type transportation is provided based upon driver availability.
IN-HOME RESPITE SERVICES
Trained and experienced staff can provide relief for individuals caring for a friend or family member. Staff offers companionship and meaningful activities for seniors. Staff also support personal care needs including meal preparation, feeding, bathing and toileting.
INFORMATION AND REFERRALS
If you have questions about senior services but are not sure whom to ask, call us for help. We have experienced staff and a Resource Centre to support you. We can also provide referrals to community support services such as Long Term Care, social housing and financial aid.
SENIORS LUNCH PROGRAM
Offers seniors, who have difficulty getting out, opportunities to take part in social activities in their community. Delicious, well-balanced meals and fun-filled activities in a friendly, social setting are provided.
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM
Assists tenants with health and/or social needs to continue to live in their own homes and community. Service coordination, emotional support, assistance with personal care, household assistance and emergency response are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
TELEPHONE REASSURANCE
Volunteers maintain an on-going telephone link with isolated seniors in order to help them remain in their own homes. Regular telephone calls help provide personal security and social contact for seniors.
VOLUNTEER VISITING
Volunteers are matched with seniors, who due to mobility or health concerns have difficulty in joining activities outside their own home. A friendship is built between the volunteer and senior.
